Centacare FNQ - System Optimisation
Nellers recently partnered with the dedicated team at Centacare Far North Queensland, who provide services that are community driven, easy to access and make a difference in the lives of individuals and families in the Far North Queensland region.
Aligned to their strategic intent to strengthen internal performance to support service delivery, Centacare partnered with Nellers to enhance their use of their existing human resource information system (HRIS) ELMO to:
- improve data capture and reporting;
- streamline employment-related workflows to achieve efficiencies; and
- maximise use of the technology to enhance employee engagement strategies.
What the Project Included
- Remapping the position structure of the system including implementation of consistent naming conventions.
- Additional profile fields added to capture core employment data for improved reporting.
- Configuring core compliance forms and reporting for enhanced management of blue cards, yellow cards, drivers licence and police checks.
- Reconfiguring dashboards to include organisational branding and engaging content.
- Simplifying recruitment requisition and onboarding workflows to enhance user experience and incorporate approval processes.
- Configuring rule-sets within the payroll system and advice and training on their ongoing management.
- Development and facilitation of training content and resources to support internal knowledge retention.
Challenges and Opportunities Identified
- Inconsistent position structure and naming conventions were creating confusion and limiting reporting accuracy.
- Key employment data wasn't being captured effectively, restricting the organisation’s ability to generate meaningful workforce insights.
- Compliance tracking for Blue Cards, Yellow Cards, licences, and police checks was manual and hard to manage at scale.
- Dashboards lacked organisational branding and didn’t engage users or highlight critical info.
- Recruitment requisition and onboarding workflows were clunky, lacked standardised approvals, and weren’t user-friendly.
- Payroll rule sets required refinement to better reflect operational needs, with limited internal understanding of how to manage them.
- Training resources were inconsistent, making internal knowledge-sharing and system adoption harder than it needed to be.
Our Solution
Nellers HR assembled a team of systems, payroll, and HR specialists to deliver tailored solutions aligned with Centacare’s needs. Through effective discovery, consultation, and project management, the team identified core issues and opportunities, then mapped out enhancements that could be rolled out with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.
As a result of the collaboration, Centacare FNQ is now better equipped to:
- Capture and report on workforce data with greater accuracy and confidence – thanks to refined position structures, new data fields, and system-wide consistency, internal teams can now generate clear, meaningful reports that support strategic decisions.
- Streamline employment-related workflows – recruitment, onboarding, compliance checks, and payroll processes have been simplified and automated where possible, freeing up time and reducing administrative load across the board.
- Maximise their HR tech investment to support employee engagement – with refreshed dashboards, better branding, and tailored training, staff are more engaged with the system and confident in using it day-to-day, improving both adoption and experience.
